General Mohammad Ayoub Salangi:

General Mohammad Ayub Salangi was born in 1965 in Salang District of Parwan Province. Currently he holds the position of Senior Deputy Interior Minister for Security in the Ministry of Interior of Islamic republic of Afghanistan.

He has held a number of different security positions throughout Afghanistan. In late 2003 he was described as a “high-ranking Kabul Garrison Officer and the “Kabul military commander”. At a meeting of security chiefs in January 2004, he was labeled the Commander of Kabul Garrison. In March, 2005, He was named the Provincial Police Chief of Kandahar Province replacing Gen. Khan Mohammad Khan. He was later moved to western Afghanistan, where he became the Provincial Police Chief of Herat Province on July 4, 2005.

In April 2007, he was appointed as the Provincial Police Chief of Kunduz. In July, 2008 Mr. Salangi was chosen to serve as Kabul Police Chief. For his sincere and great services as a Kabul Police Chief, at the end of his mission, he received a letter of appreciation from the leadership of the Ministry of Interior. In March, 2009 he become Nengarhar Provincial Police Chief where he served in this capacity until October of 2010.  Mr. Salangi was then transferred back to Kabul in late 2010 in the position of Kabul 101 Zonal Commander. In his capacity as Kabul Chief of Police he brought remarkable changes in the areas of police training and increasing the number of polices forces.

Due to his dedication, hard work and commitment, based on the presidential decree number 4545 and recommendation of the Ministry of Interior, in October of 2013 General Salangi was promoted from Lieutenant General to four star general and held the position of Senior Deputy Minister in charge of security in the ministry of interior.

During his time, working in Afghanistan’s security sector, General Salangi has had the opportunity of participating in various national and international conferences in Afghanistan and in other countries. General Salangi has obtained the full membership of International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), thus participates in IACP’s annual conferences held in the USA. IACP is a dynamic organization that serves as the professional voice of law enforcement and it is a comprehensive professional organization that supports the law enforcement leaders of today and develops the leaders of tomorrow.

General Salangi’s performance has also been appreciated several international organizations. For instance,  in October of 2014, General Salangi received the best police leader of the year award by the European Union Police Mission in Afghanistan (EUPOL) in kabul, Afghanistan.
